ABOUT ME

B&W wedding2.jpg

I have been an Independent Marriage Celebrant for several years now -  but prior to becoming a Celebrant,  I had a rich and varied history which has led me to this point.

Born in the UK, I travelled widely as a child and young woman; these experiences opened my heart and broadened my mind, filling my imagination with sights, sounds, colours, tastes, music and sensations. From fiestas in Portugal, to souks in Marrakech, from wine tours in the Napa to sampling beignets in New Orleans, from island hopping in Greece to camel riding in Jordan – all these experiences shape who I am today.

My first job was with a conference and incentive travel company which combined my love of organising events and travel; since then I have always loved creating parties and events for friends and relatives.

In 1997 I married a Kiwi and twelve years and two children later we moved to Auckland – since when we have never looked back. Once settled here I became involved with my work and community – and after a brush with breast cancer in 2012 began volunteering with NZBCF, SVA, Good Bitches Baking and other charitable fundraising events.

All of which reignited my desire to work with people, and organising one friend’s wedding and being photographer at another’s focused me on the idea of becoming an Independent Marriage Celebrant.

Since marrying my first couple - two of my best friends, on Onemana beach on Anzac weekend 2022,  I can't help but reflect on Aotearoa’s amazing cultural diversity.
In  my first ten ceremonies I married 6 Kiwi Kiwis, 5 British Kiwis, 4 Indian Kiwis, a German Kiwi, a Chinese Kiwi, a Tongan Kiwi, a Thai Kiwi and a Northern Irish Kiwi!
Here’s to many more cultural fusions - together we are stronger!
